The bartenders force you to drink lots and lots and lots of beer that you would never drink before.... then, you take shots with the bartender and play with his dog, all the while blasting the juke-box and singing cheesy Jethro Tull or doing your best Sid Vicious/Nancy Spungen impersonations with you and your lover. Try the stuffed mushrooms...DELISH. :)

The bar tender was quite funny. To be honest it was my birthday and I did get a little tipsy;) this local watering hole had nothing that stood out to me as exceptional. I probably won't return.

This is one of the best bars that Wilkes-Barre has to offer. The beer selection is astounding. Tons of great beers from all around the world and for someone like me who now lives in LA, the prices are great. The food is exceptionally good, especially when you compare it to most bar food. It's the type of place where the bartender learns your name and greets you when you come in the door. I always make sure to stop in for dinner when I come back home.

I like this bar. It's small but can also be fun. Great food and a decent beer selection. Check it out.

For an out-of-towner like me, Elmer Sudds was a good alternative to some of the darker and offputting neighborhood/ townie pubs in the area. Decent beer selection here, with hundreds of tap handles on the shelves from all the past offerings: 2 belgiums (Kasteel Tripel and Delerium Nocturnum) on draft and poured into the proper goblets . . also featured Green Flash IPA (tapped out before I got there), Breckenridge Avalanche Amber, and Riverhorse Hopalotamus. Miller Lite too. They also have a solid beer list too, if you'd like a bottle from the fridge, and a decent looking food menu, but the kitchen was closed by the time I got in. . . the crowd was dispersing, though an older drunken couple engaged my party in somewhat entertaining discourse. Bartender was a lame-o who couldn't be bothered. Internet jukebox set the tone, and overall a good experience.

So, I give this place 5 stars, depending on what you're looking for. This is my first review ever on anything like Yelp, so bear with me. For those who don't want to read all the details, I recommend this place for people who want some craft beer in a cozy, relaxed environment with wonderful staff and patrons. I love craft beer and I travel all over the country for my job. When I'm done with work for the day, I like to find a place with good craft beer where I can sit down with my laptop and continue to work while knocking back a few. I've been to this place two nights in a row and I love it. Frankly, I was a little apprehensive when I first pulled up. Doesn't look like much from the outside and the neighborhood seems a little shady to me. Once inside, all my fears disappeared. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. The draft selection was not huge (about 10-12 taps), but supplemented by a nice bottle selection of 20-30 beers. I basically kept to myself and worked, but I picked up random conversations from the patrons who came and went. The place never got very busy on the Wednesday and Thursday nights I was there, but everyone who came in seemed very cool and very nice. The interior is pretty small and cozy, but I was happy to find tables with power outlets right beside them for my laptop so I could work for hours. I wasn't very hungry when I arrived, but I ordered a pizza after a couple of hours. I asked them to box it to go when I ordered it as I knew I would not eat much while in the pub. They handled my request without any problems and the pizza itself was delicious. Towards the end of my stay on Wednesday, I met the owner and he was very friendly. We had a nice conversation about craft beer and the origins of the bar. As someone who is always a stranger in most places I go, I've rarely felt such a warm, friendly vibe at a bar. This place just makes me feel comfortable and they have good beer and good food on top of it. What more could you want?

A fun, friendly, non-douchey bar with great beer and good food. John (the owner) is awesome and Kimmy is a great bartender. I dig the sour cream and onion fries! I don't really venture out to bars so much any more, but when I lived closer to Sudd's, I would go quite a lot. It's the kind of bar where old friends will show up at random and then the quarters flow through the juke and catching up begins.
